Week Three Challenge: Expression

This week get out there and shoot emotion.. and expression. Pick you subject carefully, someone who wont be overly self concious and someone that will be comfortable with the process. Take your time and take lots of photos! Choose the best and email me with the results... at larissa.turcotte@dsbn.org

How to Capture Emotion Follow this link to a really helpful discussion of way to capture emotion in a photograph. Lots of good examples included.

Kate Blanchet by Annie Leibovitz
I also found the series of Video Game Players I was discussing at the meeting... See the photos below and follow this link--->Pillip Toledano to see more of his work. I especially like the way he takes photos of them reacting to something other than the photographer.. IE: dont just say smile, give them something to do or think about that will make them smile.

Week One Challenge: Silhouettes

This week aim your camera into the light! "Backlighting" your subject will cause them to appear in shadow, only a black outline against the backdrop. This works best when you really think about creating and interesting shape with your subject, the way they are posed.

More examples can be found here.

Welcome to the BDSS Photo Club! Watermarking and a Choice of Topics

I've attached some links on watermarking your images. How to do it and why.

This is what a Watermark looks like on a picture when its well done. Subtle but not really easy to crop out or move. Its been put on a section with some texture and details but not right over top of the interesting part of your picture. Remember the point is to show off and share your work, not obscure it beyond recognition.

This is what it looks like when it isn't well done :)
At our last meeting we discussed the possible topics we could do for our weekly photo challenges. Please read the list below and comment below on what your favourite idea is. You will need to create a Google account to comment, if you already have a Gmail account that will work. I've omitted ideas that were very similar to others.
